Cap the year with fellow writers!
It'll be a week long, running from December 31, 2022 to January 6, 2023.
It'll be mostly asynchronous, like Storywriting School's classes are.
It'll be full of writers, many of whom don't like parties 😝
The writing party is an event where creative writing enthusiasts write together in their own homes.
There'll be some fun stuff thrown in! We'd love for you to join us.
Here's what will happen in the writing party:
1
You'll meet fellow party-goers through intro slides.
We'll each introduce ourselves by putting some info and a photo/image onto a Google Slide. Then, we'll be able to view and comment on the others' intro slides during the party.
2
Write a monologue.
Dr. Joem's writing exercise produces a monologue on how exes became exes. This is the same exercise that produced his Palanca Award-winning play, exesanonymous.com. Follow the exercise and create a monologue of your own!
3
Listen to a podcast.
A century ago, Ernest Hemingway lost all his manuscripts to date. We'll listen to a podcast episode from the show, Gone, about how it happened and how he emerged a better writer because of it.
4
Have a live call on Discord.
We'll use Story Sandbox' Discord server to have a voice call, where we'll interview Dr. Joem and Ar-Em Bañas about their children's book, Beware the Snake.
Want to join? If so, you'll need to make and submit your intro slide.
Make a copy of the Intro slide. Fill out the information and add your photo/image. Then, share it with "anyone with the link" as "Commenter." Copy the sharing link. In case you don't know how to do this, you may consult this help file, or email us at info@storywritingschool.com.
After that, please register (you will need to submit the sharing link) and we'll include you in our guest list.
The registration deadline is December 29, 2022. But, we'd appreciate it if you'd register ASAP! It'll help us process the guest list earlier.
